Queen Mary's Tis
Hazari is one of the oldest residential schools in
Delhi. It was founded by Ms Helen Jerwood who came to
India as a self-supporting Missionary. With the specific
purpose of educating women in India, she opened an
English medium school at Jama Masjid in 1912. In 1914,
Queen Mary's shifted to Tis Hazari and grew immensely in
strength and name.
It is a matter of great pride that Queen Mary's is the
only school that was written about in detail by
Bashiruddin Ahmed in his classic history of Delhi. Today
it is marked as the heritage site in the historic city
of Delhi and has contributed effectively to the
education of the "Girl Child" completing a century.
